Independent Colleges and Universities (Private) (77 California campuses – i.e.
USF, Stanford, Dominican
and 69 other campuses)
Admission to independent colleges and universities varies considerably and college catalogs should be examined carefully. Most catalogs state that admission is granted to those whose personal qualities, record or achievement, and test scores point to success in college. This "success" is determined by high school subjects and grades, rank in class, essay, and SAT I, SAT II, or ACT test scores.

Community Colleges
(CCSF, Skyline, Laney, College of San Mateo and
100 California campuses)
Admission is open to all students who are any one of the following:
- 18 years of age or older
- Graduated from an accredited high school
- Passes the California high school Proficiency Exam
For more information contact a representative at the
campus the student wishes to attend.
