PACT, Inc. was selected again as one of only 17 national recipients of a U.S. Department of Education grant referred to as the TRIO Dissemination Program for three year funding. This program will expand our services to more young people by sharing our most effective program components and activities with other community agencies.

Therefore, PACT, Inc. is training three community agencies to replicate our services, strategies and best practices for the benefit of a significant number of additional students. These practices include providing advising on selecting a college, career information, college admission requirements, and financial aid assistance.

The dissemination program further assists partners with information on grants in order that partners may secure funding to continue the Scholars to College program once its initial funding has ceased.

Pact, Inc. hopes to develop and nurture community partners so program participants have increased self esteem, a sense of purpose, empowerment and clear tangible post secondary choices.

Our partnership agencies in this collaborative effort are the following:

  • Center for Young Women’s Development
A dynamic youth led community agency that offers comprehensive support services to young women who have been previously incarcerated, or are currently incarcerated in the juvenile justice system. Together, CYWD and PACT facilitate workshops to young women who are on the edge of incarceration in their Sister’s Circle Program.

  • Infusion One
A youth leadership development program, has provided services to San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunter’s Point district since 1994. The agency offers direct outreach services to at-risk youth which emphasize academic achievement and leadership training. They sponsor numerous city-wide Youth Summits which address issues related to violence, drugs, and the community’s educational needs.

  • Jewish Vocational Services of San Francisco
A non-sectarian, non-profit agency which serves more that 400 youths with disabilities annually in its Work Resource Program. Classes in this program include career exploration, work readiness and job search skills taught in San Francisco High Schools, has day treatment and residential treatment centers. In its 30th year of operation, JVS has also provided job placement, volunteer internships and stipend work experience.

This is a three year program during which time each partner agency will institute a permanent program of college counseling after having participated in a training program that covers college admissions, financial aid, career counseling and exploration, high school retention and dropout prevention.
